A ceiling fan typically consumes around 15 to 75 watts of energy, depending on its size and speed settings, A regular Ceiling fan consumes 75 watts depending on its size and brand compared to a regular most inefficient tube light that consumes 55 watts

If we talk about the table fan, the table fan consumes about 50 watts. While this seem relatively low compared to other appliances, turning off ceiling fans when not in use can save energy and reduce electricity bills over time.

Ceiling Fans are the most forgotten electrical appliances when we think of reducing power consumption in our home.

Most people focus on the air conditioner, dishwasher and lighting to reduce their high electricity bills, but let me tell you that fans contribute much more than lights in our electricity bills.

According to a report, ceiling fans usage more than twice the amount of electricity as compare to bulbs or light in our home.

How Much Power a Ceiling Fan Uses - in Watts, Cost & kWh?

During the summer months, ceiling fans are suitable power-saving devices to reduce high air-conditioning loads, especially when your electricity bill is high due to an air conditioner.

This small device can save significant electricity and can also save your electricity bill from increasing unnecessarily.

It is necessary to have an energy-efficient ceiling and maintain it properly and regularly. A poor quality ceiling fan can increase your electricity bill.
so please buy an efficient ceiling fan.

Ceiling fans do not change the air temperature of your room, Instead, they circulate the air in the room.Ceiling fans also help in evaporation of sweat, due to which people feel the coolness.
It can reduce the temperature of a human body by about 2 to 5 ‎°C and make it feel cold.

The power savings and efficiency of a ceiling fan depending on the size and type of fan and proper installation. Therefore, it is very important to ensure that before purchasing a ceiling fan, you should read the instructions given by its manufacturer properly.

Let's take an example

My Ceiling Fan wattage= 70 Watts
Estimated usage Per Day = 10 hours per day

So Daily Energy consumption of your Ceiling Fan
70W × 10 hour= 700 watts.

Monthly Energy consumption of your Ceiling Fan
So thus 70W × 10 hour × 30 days = 21000 watts.

Divide by 1000 to convert  watts into kilowatt.
700-watt/1000= .7 kWh
21000-watt / 1000 = 21 Kwh.

So
Daily Cost:- .7*.10=$.07‬
Monthly Cost:- 21*.10=$2.1

@Assuming electricity rate 10 cents per kilowatt-hour

Should you run ceiling fans with air-conditioner?

People commonly believe that ceiling fans should not be used with air conditioners. It is argued that ceiling fans push hot air down which increases the load on the air conditioner.

To some extent this is true but people forget, but we want to tell you that ceiling fans create a breeze and distribute cool air that makes people feel cool and more comfortable in the room.

If you are concerned with high electricity bills due to air conditioners, ceiling fans can reduce your electricity bills.

Ceiling fans circulate air inside the room. A Ceiling fan does not cool the air but speeds up the air around you.

By running the ceiling fan, you can increase the thermostat of the air conditioner by 2 to 5 degrees. so that the air conditioner will consume less power and you can significantly reduce your electricity bill.

Ceiling Fan Buying Guide Tips

Ceiling fans available in various sizes, from 800 mm to 2000 mm.1200 mm fan is the most common fan which is used in our home.

The air coming from the fan is proportional to the sweep. The fan who sweeps more will give more air. The area in which he circulates air determines his work capacity.

Therefore, it is necessary to choose the right size fan according to the size of the room.

Typically a 1050 mm sweep is suitable for a small room (10 'x10'). A larger room (10'x12 'to 12'x12') will require a 1200mm to 1400mm sweep.

For rooms larger than 12'x12 ', there should be 2 fans with the correct size. Wings with a larger sweep are preferred for hot and dry areas.

Proper Ceiling Fan Care Tips

1. To ensure the smooth operation of the fan motor, the fan should be lubricated regularly. Sealed-bearing motors require little or no maintenance, and thus no lubrication is required.

2.If your fan is making too much noise, that it is not working efficiently. The fan motor, usually made with a metal container, vibrates less and lasts longer. If the fan is making more noise, then the fan capacity can be improved by changing the ball bearings inside the fan.

3.The fan manufacturers balance the blade for the correct operation of the fan, so the ceiling fan blade should never be exchanged. The exchange of ceiling fan blades may reduce its efficiency.

4.We also have to make sure that the ceiling fan power controls are working properly, they are changing the fan speed at different range, otherwise, it will consume a lot of electricity.

Others Type Of Fan

Table Fan

Table fans are used as portable fans, which we can lift and carry anywhere, due to small size they are easy to move from one place to another and can be rotated on any side.

Cabin Fan

The cabin fan is a smaller in size like a table fan that is mounted on the wall or in small office room.

Pedestal Fan

The pedestal fan is similar to a table fan but it is about 3 to 4 feet in height so it is kept on the ground. This fan is mostly used in programs like big hall weddings where open ceiling fan or table fan Can not be used, although its size is slightly larger than the table fan, so it gives good and quiet airflow.

Air Circulator Fan

The shape of this type of fan is similar to that of a pedestal fan, in which two blades are used. The rotating speed of this type of fan is 1500 R.P.M. this type of wings is used in big halls, wedding ceremonies hall, etc.

Repair fan at home

Step-1) First of all, confirm that any connection is missing in the entire connection of the fan. Otherwise, it sometimes happens that there is no problem in the fan and it does not work due to a broken wire connection.

Step-2) After this, confirm that the AC supply is reaching the fan. For this, you can check the connection wire of the fan with resistance trick by Dc tester or multimeter, or by measuring AC volt by volt-meter or multimeter, it can be checked directly passing a current through that wire.

Step-3) If the supply is reaching the fan properly, then check that the capacitor has not leaked.
If your fan's capacitor is not working then try to change it. Keep in mind that a new capacitor of the same value should be installed in the fan. Also, be aware that the capacitor of the fan does not have (+) and (-). Therefore, it can be fitted in any way at the place of its connection.

Final Step

If the capacitor of the fan is also correct, then it is the turn to check its coil.

First of all, it should be confirmed that no connection wire of the coil is burnt or broken. If there is no such problem then after that you can check that coil with the help of multimeter or dc tester.

So If you have done the correct check so far, then it is certain that you will definitely find a fault somewhere in the coil.

When it is confirmed that there is a problem with the coil in the fan, it may be that the coil may have been burnt or if the coil is right but the connection is broken from somewhere.

If the coil is burnt, then after opening the fan completely, you will know this, but if the coil is not burnt, then you have to look carefully at the coil and find out where the connection is broken.
